Missing 150-Foot Section of Big Sur’s Highway 1 Reopens Today
After being closed for nearly 3 months, a 150-foot section of Highway 1 in Big Sur is set to reopen Friday, April 23rd at Noon. The roadway at Rat Creek (about 50 miles south of Monterey) was washed away during heavy rains on January 28th.

The road was originally set to reopen in late June, but favorable weather and soil conditions moved the timeline up to April 30 and is now opening a few days ahead of the revised deadline.
