Annual Filipino Christmas lantern festival and parade

Celebrate in festive Filipino style at the annual Parol Lantern Festival & Parade, held in Yerba Buena Gardens and Jessie Square, where you can watch traditional, star-shaped Filipino Christmas lanterns called parols march along Yerba Buena Lane, along with live music, art, games and performances.

In 2014 participating contingents who are vying for the Tala Awards are expected to incorporate the theme – Community Legacy – Pamana sa Komunidad – in the design of their parol lanterns and presentation in conjunction with the unveiling of the SoMa Pilipinas, a Filipino Social Heritage Special Use District in San Francisco.

2014 Schedule:

  • 5 pm: Entertainment & Parol Gallery in Jessie Square
  • 6:15 pm: Parade Starts at Yerba Buena Gardens
  • 6:30 – 8 pm*: Program & Tala Awards in Jessie Square

*In case of rain, the parade will be cancelled and all program activities will take place inside St. Patrick’s church at 6:30 pm.
