Thanks to ABC7 for sharing the unfortunate news that San Francisco homegrown coffeehouse Philz Coffee has closed its original San Francisco shop located in the Mission District at 3101 24th Street.

Philz Coffee opened its original location over two decades ago on January 1, 2003, and sadly brewed its last cup of coffee at 1 pm on Monday, October 16. The reason for the closure? Philz Coffee decided not to renew its lease. Don’t fret though; you can still get your caffeine buzz on at over 60 locations of Philz Coffee, a majority of which are in California, including 12 locations in San Francisco. Fancying Philz outside of California? You can find Philz in the Chicago area.

Philz Coffee is well known for brewing each cup of coffee made to order, specialty pour-over drinks, including an optional signature sprig of mint as garnish. Thankfully all of Philz employees in the shuttered Mission District shop will be offered positions at other Philz locations.
