Unfortunately, it’s been recently announced that the popular Presidio Picnic and its nighttime sister event, Presidio Twilight won’t be returning, but that’s because, Presidio Tunnel Tops, San Francisco’s brand new park opening July 17, just announced they will host food trucks and pop-ups on-site every day.

The new park was created by the community, for the community, to provide a welcoming and relevant experience at the Presidio, San Francisco’s national park site. “We know that food is an important part of the park experience and can help create a sense of welcome and belonging,” says Allison Stone, director of visitor engagement at the Presidio Trust. “Presidio Pop Up aims to offer an exciting, rotating line-up of vendors whose delicious foods celebrate Bay Area cultures and traditions. Food is a universal connector that brings people together, and we hope that Presidio Pop Up will help turn the Presidio Tunnel Tops space into a vibrant community place.”

This new seven-day-a-week program was informed by visitor feedback and builds off the success of the weekly Sunday Picnic and Twilight event series, Presidio Pop Up last fall (in association with the My Park Moment photo show), and other past activations involving food. The program will offer a more frequent way for visitors to relax and enjoy the Presidio Tunnel Tops and other national park experiences while enjoying local eats. It is also an opportunity to discover the best locations for food service.

Operators will draw from millions of visitors from around the Bay Area and the world, as well as the more than 7,000 people who live and work in the Presidio. Rotating schedules will allow flexibility to meet demand during peak times, and there is an abundance of opportunities for qualified vendors to secure regular shifts.
