San Francisco has secured a large shipment of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) and the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) to support small businesses. The shipment includes hand sanitizers, surgical masks, and face shields. Our goal in providing this PPE to businesses is to save them the time and expense of procuring PPE, and to help focus and prepare them for continued safe reopening.

Small businesses that need a 30-day free supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including surgical masks, face shields, and hand sanitizers, can make a request through their nearest participating community-based organization. Supplies are limited. For more information and questions, please visit oewd.org/PPE or call Office of Small Business Division at 415-554-6134.

In collaboration with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), a one-month supply of PPE will be distributed to local businesses that are open and/or will reopen soon, while supplies last. To support the City’s equity goals, OEWD developed an equitable distribution plan for the PPE based on the following priorities:

  • Business located in designated Opportunity Neighborhoods
  • Low-Income Businesses and those with barriers to access PPE
  • Micro-Businesses with high volumes of visitors and clients
  • Micro-Businesses with high touch interactions with the public
