The 56 teams of local artists, educators, students and community groups designing custom-made, gravity-powered vehicles include Windy Chien, Christopher Martin, Avila Rose Signs, City College of San Francisco, Girls Garage, John O’Connell High School, Lindsey White and eleven winners of the museum’s open call. Each racer will get their star turn as they coast down John F. Shelley Drive, with the action emceed by KQED’s Pendarvis Harshaw and ABC7’s Kumasi Aaron. Enjoy music, food and family-friendly activities in the park, including musical performances by Science Band and Chulita Vinyl Club and karaoke with the TNT Traysikel. Judges Amanda Pope, Dorcas Moulton, Per Sia and La Doña will award 30 artist-designed trophies, made by Bay Area artists including Liz Hernández, Muzae Sesay and Wanxin Zhang.
