SF’s New Central Subway Opens “This Fall;” Four Years Late
Thanks to ABC7 for sharing the news that San Francisco’s Central Subway is on schedule to finally open in “the fall” (No specific date has been announced, but SFMTA’s website says “October”).
Well… supposedly “scheduled” for fall. But we’ve heard this before! The subway was supposed to open in 2018, then it was definitely happening in 2021 and now… well… we’ll believe it when we see it.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi along with U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg visited San Francisco this week and checked out the progress on the long-delayed subway line which will travel 1.7 miles underground and connect San Francisco’s downtown to Chinatown through four stations.
Thankfully, construction is nearly done, after starting back in 2010, and the honored guests were able to catch a sneak peek ride on the train underground from Union Square to Chinatown.
