SF’s Long-Awaited Downtown Jollibee Finally Opens July 31
After nearly six years of delays, San Francisco’s new Jollibee is finally ready to serve Chickenjoy, peach mango pies and Filipino favorites downtown.
After years of construction delays and permitting hurdles, Jollibee has finally announced an opening date for its long-awaited return to downtown San Francisco.
The Filipino fast food giant will officially open Friday, July 31, 2026 at 934 Market Street, in the former Payless store next to Powell Street BART. The restaurant will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with dine-in, takeout and online ordering.
The opening marks Jollibee’s return to San Francisco for the first time since its Fourth Street location near Yerba Buena Gardens closed in 2011.
Known as the “McDonald’s of the Philippines,” Jollibee has built a global following for its crispy Chickenjoy fried chicken, sweet-style Jolly Spaghetti, Palabok Fiesta noodles and its fan-favorite Peach Mango Pie.
The downtown location has been in the works since 2020 but faced several setbacks, including permitting delays, historic preservation reviews and final city approval for restaurant equipment noise levels.
Jollibee continues to grow rapidly in California, with plans to open 15 more Bay Area locations over the next eight years.
If you can’t wait until July 31, there are already a dozen Jollibee locations around the Bay Area, including Daly City, South San Francisco, Hayward, Union City, Alameda, San Jose, Milpitas, Vallejo, Concord, Fairfield and Brentwood.
