In past years, SF SPCA volunteers have helped spread holiday cheer at the annual holiday SPCA pop-up adoption center at the Macy’s Holiday Windows at Union Square. The adoption center is open Wednesday – Sunday through the holiday season, except on Thanksgiving and Christmas day. It’s unclear if SF SPCA is accepting volunteers for the Holiday Windows in 2025. Gobble Gobble Give
Gobble Gobble Give delivers food, clothing and toiletries to the homeless in eighteen cities across the country on Thanksgiving morning. Bring a warm dish and join volunteers to walk the streets to hand out care packages to unhoused individuals and families including second-hand warm clothing and hygiene supplies. This used to be hosted at Slim’s, but after the venue closed, this event went dark for a few years. Thankfully, in 2024, Gobble Gobble Give returned to San Francisco. Here’s what happened in 2024: “A group of people get together on Thanksgiving Morning, bring a hot dish and put the meals together with second-hand warm clothing and hygiene supplies and take the meals to the streets of SF. Meeting in the Mission district this year.” It’s not confirmed for 2025 yet, but keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates. – last checked 11/3/25
