U.S. Supreme Court Decisions | June 26, 2013

  • Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) struck down and ruled unconstitutional, which denied federal benefits to same-sex couples.
  • The Supreme Court has ruled that Proposition 8 proponents have no standing, allowing the lower court’s ruling to stand and paving the way for same-sex marriages to resume in California. However, the ruling does not expand rights to other states.
