Free Seasonal Cooking Demo & Tasting | Ferry Plaza Farmers Market

This waterfront market, run by the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA), has over 100 food, fruit, and vegetable vendors on Saturdays and the entire Bay as its beautiful backdrop.

The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market operates year-round from 8 am to 2 pm.

On most Saturdays, free cooking demos take place in the CUESA Classroom (under the white tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.

Chad Kuczek came to ICHI Sushi+NI Bar with a background devoted to sustainable farm-to-table fine dining. Chad honed his skills on the East Coast, working at New York’s Aquagrill, where the emphasis is on locally sourced seafood; at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, a working farm and fine dining establishment; and at Shelbourne Farms, a working farm and sustainability education non-profit in Vermont.

After leaving the East Coast, Chad worked at Lardo in Portland, Oregon and at the Ritz Carlton in Maui, Hawaii before landing in San Francisco. Before joining Tim and Erin Archuleta at ICHI Sushi + NI Bar, Chad cooked at the award winning Local’s Corner and made a wide variety of Italian salumi with Boccalone.

At ICHI, Chad is excited to explore using California farm ingredients with traditional Japanese recipes.
