After initially stating that indoor dining wouldn’t happen until “Mid-October”, San Francisco today announced a revision to their reopening timeline for indoor dining which is set to resume on September 30th.

Indoor Dining Rules/Restrictions

We expect the rules to evolve over time, but currently the indoor dining regulations state that:

  • Limit rooms to 25% of normal maximum capacity, or 100 people (whichever is fewer). This includes patrons who may need to come inside to pick up a takeout meal, or outdoor diners using the restroom.
  • Bars, wineries, and tasting rooms that are not permitted to serve a main course still cannot open.
  • Patrons are not able to dine at counters or bars
  • Tables should only seat up to 6 customers. You can seat more if everyone is from the same household. Customers should not be served unless they are seated at a table. Customers should not stand between tables.
  • Customers may only dine for 2 hours at most.
  • No entertainment will be allowed. This includes TVs and performances.
  • Face coverings required – All staff must wear face coverings while at work. Customers must also wear face coverings when they are not actively eating or drinking.

San Francisco initially tried to reopen indoor dining on July 13th, but the city postponed the reopening after a surge of COVID cases.
