LETHOLOGICA_Reese Wallace: Solo Show Opening Reception
San Francisco, CA – May 19, 2024 – Bluestream proudly presents an evening with Reese Wallace, an emerging queer artist, for a special reception of their latest show, “Lethologica.” The event will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 555 Grant Ave, San Francisco.
Reese Wallace’s newest exhibit is a semi-autobiographical memoir narrated by an unreliable narrator, capturing the elusive nature of memory. The show, aptly titled “Lethologica,” is designed to evoke the sensation of struggling to recall something significant, something perpetually on the tip of your tongue.
“Memory is a tangible entity that your mind recreates with each recollection, gradually distancing it from its original context until it becomes merely a path to a feeling,” Wallace explains. Their work often embraces intentional nostalgia, focusing on what is absent rather than what is depicted. The expansive empty spaces in Wallace’s pieces symbolize the vast swaths of memory that have faded over time.
Drawing inspiration from his upbringing in religiously conservative Utah and rural Americana, Wallace’s subjects range from critiques of masculine performance to observations on climate change and capitalism, each presented as personal anecdotes from a singular perspective.
This reception offers a unique opportunity to meet the artist and explore his thought-provoking work. The event is open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to engage with the art and discuss the themes presented.
