Partnering with the Exploratorium, the California Academy of Sciences, and Z Space, MAX 2019: A Space Festival will present musicians, performers, photographers, artist-engineers, conceptual artists, game designers and drag queens, all charged with bringing the exploration of space to immersive, educational and entertaining life over the course of three days.

Participants include the Kronos Quartet, Sasha Samochina from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Visual Operations Lab, dancer Alice Sheppard engaging in a pas de deux with a robot designed by artist-engineer Alexander Reben, playwright, performer, and composer Ethan Lipton and his Orchestra will perform their musical The Outer Space, which depicts the fraught fortunes resulting from the reliance on a second-hand spaceship purchased in order to move out and into the final frontier.
