Motown in Oaktown: Free “Dreamgirls” Showing | Jack London Square

Come to Jack London Square for a free outdoor showing of Dreamgirls, a musical about the history of Motown Records and The Supremes, nominated for eight Academy Awards. Let your inner diva out with a free Dreamgirls-inspired Motown karaoke contest. Prizes will be awarded.

The 2006 movie was the film debut of American Idols finalist Jennifer Hudson who went on to win the Best Supporting Actress for her role. It also features Jamie Foxx, Beyonce Knowles, Eddie Murphy and Danny Glover.

Location: Jack London Square’s Market Lawn. The event is slated for “sundown” according to organizers so that means around 7:30 or 8:00 and it’s usually pretty chilly around that time so bring warm clothes and a blanket to lay on.
