Held annually on June 21 to coincide with the summer solstice, Make Music Day is part of the international Fête de la Musique taking place in more than 1,000 cities across 120 countries. The daylong, musical free-for-all celebrates music in all its forms, encouraging people, from professionals to amateur musicians, to band together and play in free public concerts. The City of San José’s Office of Economic Development and Cultural Affairs (OEDCA) has led the local edition, Make Music San José, since 2017.

Here in San José, more than 50 musicians will perform and take part in play-along events in 28 participating venues throughout the city, featuring an eclectic mix of musical genres, age groups and professional musicians. Performances will take place all day, from 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m., you’ll get to enjoy free performances throughout the city.
