Start the new year off right with a hike or a walk to begin 2019 with fresh air and your blood pumping. All hikes below are free, but some required an RSVP
2020 New Year’s Day Hikes/Walks
SF City Guides Walking Tours– six tours on NYD – including Castro, City Hall, Ferry Building, historic market street – free but donations appreciated – Confirmed as of 12/23/2019.
Sierra Club NYD Hikes – Free but might be parking charge. – Confirmed as of 12/23/2019.
- Mt. Diablo (9:15am) Two summits hike
- Mt. Tam Hike to East Peak and ridge top saunter (10am)
- Singles Hike of Hills & Vistas of Briones Regional Park – 7-9 mile casual hike (just north of Orinda)
- Lake Chabot Reservoir 3 mile hike followed by dinner at local restaurant – meet at boathouse cafe (4p) – just east of San Leandro
Golden Gate Bridge Walk – with the meetup group “Bay Area Outings) – meet at crissy field at 11am – RSVP required – Confirmed as of 12/26/2019.
First Day Hikes – All 50 states have free guided first day hike programs in their state parks – including Angel Island, Montara St. Beach, Mt. Diablo, Jack London State Park just north of Sonoma, Big Basin – Free. – Confirmed as of 12/26/2019.
