Former college basketball benchwarmer and winner of Las Vegas’ “World Series of Comedy,” The Function welcomes nationwide touring comedian Paul Conyers to headline SF’s only black-owned comedy club for a rare appearance.

Paul Conyers is one of the fastest rising comedians in the country. A former college basketball benchwarmer, his vivid storytelling and razor-sharp writing have made him an undeniable talent in a way his abysmal shooting percentage never could. His debut comedy special, “Above The Fray,” is available on Amazon Prime Video, and his newest special, “Should’ve Stayed Downstairs,” is now streaming on the Open Bar Comedy Network. In 2024, Paul was selected for the Moontower Comedy Festival, where he was featured on the highly coveted “Overlooked” show, which highlighted “hilarious comedians you’ve yet to discover.”
Paul won 1st place at the 2020 World Series of Comedy Main Event in Las Vegas, and has been selected as “Best of the Fest” at the SLO Comedy Festival, Big Pine Comedy Festival, Oakland Comedy Festival and the Sacramento Comedy Festival. He is a regular at comedy clubs, theaters, casinos and cruise ships all over the country. You can catch his comedy playing on Pandora and SiriusXM. Paul is absurdly tall and may become confrontational if you claim to know more about Harry Potter than he does.

The Function has a full bar with signature cocktails, classics, draft beer, an extensive curated wine selection (with many by the glass), numerous non-alcoholic options along with special seasonal cocktail menus.
Things to Know
- Like most comedy clubs there is a 2 drink minimum to help support the bar & wait staff. We have a full bar, but non-alcoholic beverages and mocktails do count towards your minimum
- The show is partially seated – arrive early!
- To help keep show disruptions to a minimum, guests will not be sat 15 minutes after showtime
- Although all sales are final, we want to be as flexible as possible. If you can no longer make it to the show, just notify us least least 24 hours in advance of the start of the show and, in most cases, we can give you a credit towards tickets to a future date.
