Exploring PIHKAL’s phenyl-bearing entheogenic plants and molecules, from Huachuma to Nutmeg, Sassafras, MDMA and others.
Meet the Sacred Plants and molecules (as molecular models) of the Big Sky! In this 1.5 hour interactive conversation, meet the living plants, learn about the expansive journeys and diverse traditional and post-post-modern ways of engaging with entheogenic cacti, psychoactive phenethylamines and phenyl-based aromatic spices.
In a wide-ranging, deep-diving talk by Bob Otis, MDiv (Senior Pastor at Sacred Garden Community, founding Chair of Oakland’s Decrim Nature movement, Resident Entheobotanist for Opihihale and SFPS), we’ll explore traditional “head-removing” Chavin Achuma (Trichocereus spp, Huachuma. Giganton, San Pedro, …) cactus species, mixtures and brews (Cimora, Chuchuma), nutmeg, sassafras, “bliss balls” and the gently psychoactive phenyl-based spices of the “Big Sky”. Learn about “substituted phenethylamines” and how phenylpropenes like safrole are extended into more powerfully psychoactive molecules in the great Shulgin tradition.
Dive deeply into beautiful living sacred plants, enjoy inspiring natural scents and explore molecular models such as mescaline, 2-CB, TMA, MDA, MDMA, LSA and other related sacred plants, molecules and practices. Bring a (legal to grow) plant home with you!
