SF History Night | Pacific Heights
The San Francisco History Association hosts monthly talks which explore our city’s enchanting history in depth.
Each month, a local history expert hosts a themed talk usually accompanied by a slide show with light refreshments.
SFHA board member and historian Lorri Ungaretti will discuss some of the people she profiled in her newest book, Legendary Locals of San Francisco’s Richmond, Sunset, and Golden Gate Park.
You’ll learn about the famous, infamous, and unsung heroes who have lived in the Avenues or have contributed significantly to the area’s history. Find out about Remo del Tredici (recently profiled in the Chronicle), a 95-year-old Italian immigrant who takes violin lessons and makes violins; Audley and Jo Cole, an African-American couple who not only broke SF employment “rules” but also moved to the almost-all-white Sunset District in 1957; how the City and Country of San Francisco gave the worst possible gift to Golden Gate Park Superintendent John McLaren; and more.
