SF Transit Week 2019 | Sept. 7-13
Many San Franciscans are forced into a poverty trap of car ownership because their neighborhoods and communities lack sufficient public transit. A private car becomes necessary as the easiest way to access resources and opportunities. These communities are disproportionately populated by low income residents and people of color. These communities also tend to suffer the greatest impacts of poor air quality and climate change.
How do we create a world where public transit is equitably distributed and people do not have to own a car to live their lives? How do we make sure that environmental justice and transit justice reinforce each other to create a San Francisco we can all live in?
We’re teaming up with Spin for a panel discussion and workshop with community leaders, friends, and neighbors from Visitacion Valley, the Tenderloin, South of Market, the Bayview and the Excelsior about the climate and transportation challenges facing their communities. This discussion isn’t limited to the panelists – we want YOU to join in and share your thoughts during a breakout session. Let’s work together to find potential solutions to those challenges.
