The strong voice behind tUnE-yArDs comes from New England native-turned-Oakland resident, Merril Garbus. Backed by looped sounds and a varied number of instruments (bass, percussion, a plethora of saxes, and more), tUnE-yArDs crafts intricate, compelling and singular musical explorations.

Another artist from Kyiv, Ukraine, DakhaBrakha is a self-described “ethnic chaos” band, creating a world of unexpected new music. Accompanied by Indian, Arabic, African, Russian, and Australian instrumentation, the quartet’s astounding vocal range has garnered praise around the world.
