2018 Aggregate Animated Shorts Film Festival Open Reception
July 6, 2018 | 6 pm to 10 pm
Aggregate Space Gallery, 801 West Grand Avenue, Oakland
(Entrance on West Street)
Animation, as subset within video art, is unique in its versatility as a communicative form and its ability to place viewers inside adjacent realities. It is a medium without rules or restrictions, and its content can address ideas as simple or as complex as the animator intends.
The exhibition will culminate in an award ceremony hosted by artist, animator, and Congratulations Pine Tree co-host, Kate Rhoades. We will be screening the top two films from each category, as well as a viewer’s choice award from each category. Viewer’s Choice categories will be rated by visitors to the gallery, so come by and judge these films by July 28th! The event will also include a film by each of our exhibition jurors: Meghana Bisineer, Tan Wei Keong, Clement Hil Goldberg, and Jeremy Rourke.
Featuring shorts by: Noah Aust, Mike Cantor, Carla Ciuffo, Lydia Greer, Paula Moxham Imirzian, Ryan D. Lewis, Michel Levine, Wrik Mead, Sarah Paulsen, Sandro Del Rosario, Paige Stewart, Jordan Wason, and Jeffery Yip.
Aggregate Space is a warehouse and has a similar temperature to the outside; please dress accordingly.
Aggregate Space Gallery’s exhibition program is funded in part by Zellerbach Family Foundation and ArtNow International. Additional program funding comes from California College of the Arts, East Bay Community Foundation, and the Kenneth Rainin Foundation.
