Yoshi’s San Francisco  offers free live music in The Lounge and restaurant seven nights a week as part of Yoshi’s Local Talent Series.

A passionate and distinctive blend of instrumental Latin Guitar World Fusion. Signed to prestigious Baja/TSR Records in ’06 and releasing “Rumba de la Selva” in 2007. in 2008 “Gypsy Spice” Best of New Flamenco was released and featured the track “Linda” from “Rumba de la Selva” along side artists such as Ottmar Liebert, Jesse Cook, Armik, Young & Rollins, Luis Villegas & Benise.

Born and raised in San Francisco, J Kevin was influenced by his parents as the likes of Nat King Cole, Chet Baker, Mel Torme, and the sound of “West Coast Jazz” echoed thoughout the household.  Being drawn to music at a young age, he quickly learned to listen to the nuances of each vocal performer, and developed his own style that is often described as chocolate, smokey or the sound of velvet.  Now he has taken a step towards you to share his love of music, which spans Jazz Standards, to lovely ballads..

David Correa and CASCADA have been entertaining crowds at city summer concert series events, music festivals and cultural events since 1999 with their passionate and distinctive blend of instrumental Latin Guitar World Fusion. David Correa and CASCADA have toured throughout the west coast, northwest & southwest regions and have won numerous accolades and awards including best Latin band in the North Bay three years in a row from 2005 through 2007. Signed to prestigious Baja/TSR Records in ’06 and releasing “Rumba de la Selva” in 2007. in 2008 “Gypsy Spice” Best of New Flamenco was released and featured the track “Linda” from “Rumba de la Selva” along side artists such as Ottmar Liebert, Jesse Cook, Armik, Young & Rollins, Luis Villegas & Benise.

Chris Amberger’s dexterity on the bass has traveled wide and deep. Many remember him as the house bassist at the Keystone Korner in San Francisco, ferociously pushing the limits of his instrument while maintaining a strong groove with the likes of Sam Rivers, Art Pepper, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Elvin Jones, Freddie Hubbard, Dexter Gordon, and Horace Silver. After his dinner set, if you’re a musician, come on out and jam with the band!

He has performed with Little Anthony and the Imperials, Greg Gisbert, Michael Marcus, Madeline Eastman, Chris Amberger, Bishop Norman Williams, Akio Sasajima, Vince Wallace, Lori Bell, Larry Hancock, Josh Jones, Paula Chase, Clint Strong, Sheherezade Stone, Darrell Green, Mike Olmos, Tekanawa “Rufus” Haereiti, and many other great musicians.

Hermann Lara and his Jazz Nexus

San Francisco saxophonist and composer Hermann Lara loves crossing musical boundaries. His compositions and play aim to keep the listener fixated on what they’ll hear next. “Rhythm and melody are really just an essential part of my being,” explains the alto and tenor saxophonist.  Having been raised in a musical family and in the vibrant and pulsing Mission District of the 1970’s, Lara leans into his roots with a mature jazz sensibility nurtured in bebop and the post bop era on his debut album, “New Mission.”

Michael LaMacchia

Michael LaMacchia was born in Kenosha Wisconsin, he moved to San Francisco at 18 and began his musical career.  A gifted guitarist and prolific composer, there is always a buzz in Michael’s music with a feeling of freshness and passion.  Bridging musical worlds together, Michael creates a sound that is personal and unique – drawing from experiences of Jazz, Brazilian, African, Latin, Classical and Pop.

Michael has played with many of the Bay Area’s/Worlds finest musicians, Bob Weir (Grateful Dead), Alan Hall, Scott Amendola, Paul Van Wagenigen, Jim Ogios (Cheryl Crow, Counting Crows), Deszon Claiborne, Bill Kruetzman (Grateful Dead) Todd Sickafoose (Ani Difranco), Derek Jones, Dan Fieszli, Sam Bevan, Dann Zinn, Matt Renzi, Ken Cook, Jon Arkin, Mark Bernfield, Rob Fordyce, Matt Heulitt, Andy Stohler (Tracey Chapman), Kim Nalley, Jim Bove, Sandy Griffith, Narda Michael Walden, Raz Kennedy, James Bove, James Moseley, Neils Myrner, Alex Aspinal, Edo Castro, Lynn Asher.

Raquel is an eight-time award winning singer and songwriter who performs jazz, bossa nova, Latin music and blues, and sings in English, Spanish and Tagalog. She is a passionate performer whose memorably beautiful voice ranges from soothing and sultry to powerfully soulful; this petite Filipina singer’s surprisingly large sounds prompted KCSM’s Chuy Varela to refer her as “a pint of dynamite!”  She will be accompanied by veteran jazz pianist Kelly Park, venerable upright bassist Saul Sierra, and multi-talented drummer and percussionist Alexey Berlind.

Sandra Aran Quartet

Ms. Aran made her performace debut at age 5 in her native Mexico city. In 1991 she was accepted to the National School of Music in Mexico City where she studied classical piano, composition and voice for the following 5 years.  In 1994 she also enrolled in the Jazz Studies Program at the Superior School of Music where she formed her first Jazz Quartet: Art Deco.   In 1996, she joined forces with other jazz singers in Mexico to form the vocal octet, “Cuicanitl”, with whom she opened for blues legend B.B. King as well as for jazz great George Benson during his Mexico City concert in 1997. They released an independent album,”Solo Voices” to critical acclaim in 1999.
