Master Plan | 2019 Architecture & the City Festival | SF

Master Plan explores the tight relation between neighborhood design and the values of American society. The film evaluates changing notions of quality of life as seen from the perspective of residents, planners, and designers. Divergent social ideals are materialized through a range of housing options, from public housing developments, to company towns, master planned developments, and a prison. The film provides a reflection on the complex negotiation between individual needs with social norms as manifested through the decisions and work process that surround residential planning.
