Free Shakespeare in the Park 2023 “The Tempest” in Berkeley (May 28 – June 11)
EVENT UPDATE: There are no upcoming events known for this event series - please check the organizer website for any updates.
Inferno Theatre is the first company to reopen the free summer theater-in-the park tradition at the historic 1934 amphitheatre at John Hinkel Park after a beautiful multi-year renovation, with a live, magical production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
What could be better than The Tempest, a play that pushes theatricality to its limits?
Come join us on our imaginary island and meet the unique inhabitants. Experience the magical world of Shakespeare through movement, verse, and live music. Bring your low seat, cushions, blankets and a picnic, and enjoy the revival of free, open-air theater under the oaks. The amphitheatre is wheelchair accessible with a few companion bench seats, and this is a great way to introduce kids to the beauty of Shakespeare. Free Admission
