The BIPOC film festival is a one day event at Dolby Theaters in downtown San Francisco designed to advance independent filmmakers of color in the media industry. The festival is sponsored by the California State University Media Entertainment Alliance and is dedicated to advancing marginalized voices in the film industry to promote equity and cultural diversity. Our films highlight the stories and experiences of underrepresented communities, particularly of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). We understand the power of cinema to bridge cultural divides, educate, and inspire. As such, we believe that our festival is an important step towards creating a more equitable and just society.

This year the festival will be co-sponsored by San Francisco State University’s Latino/a/x Film Club, the Hidden GEM Creative Studios and Somos LOUD. The festival will include a red carpet event and a reception including small bites and refreshments prior to the screening. This is an exclusive opportunity to network with professionals from Dolby, a leader in the audio and visual technology industry. This year our keynote speaker will be Effie Brown, producer of, “Dear White People” & “Real Women Have Curves”. She will be awarding prizes for Best Film, Best Director and Best Experimental/Documentary/Animation film. A special after party mixer will take place for selected filmmakers and industry proffesionals. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will directly benefit the Latino/a/x Film Club, dedicated to advancing and supporting Latino filmmakers.
