SHREK.
● Three contemporary sensations from Bay Area luminaries – Ryan Coogler’s

with English subtitles.
● The legendary Talking Heads concert film, STOP MAKING SENSE.

monster classics – Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 brawler PACIFIC RIM, and 1965’s
INVASION OF ASTRO-MONSTER featuring a faceoff between Godzilla, Rodan,
and King Ghidorah.
● Two delightful family favorites – THE LEGO MOVIE and MINIONS: THE RISE OF
GRU.
● The birth of the modern superhero genre, Richard Donner’s 1978 version of
SUPERMAN, and director Matt Reeves’ noirish reinvention of the Caped
Crusader, THE BATMAN.
● Three turn-of-the-century comedy pageants – Christopher Guest’s sublime BEST
IN SHOW, MISS CONGENIALITY, and the darkly hilarious DROP DEAD
GORGEOUS.
● Two modern marvels – Quentin Tarantino’s tribute to a place and time lost to
history and infamy, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, and George Miller’s
high-octane tour de force, MAD MAX: FURY ROAD.

Kelly’s DONNIE DARKO, and Park Chan-wook’s OLDBOY.
