Alcatraz Tours Are Suddenly Canceled This Week
Alcatraz tours are off the table this week.
Tours to Alcatraz Island have been suddenly canceled for the week due to scheduled dock repair work, according to park officials. The shutdown began Monday and is expected to last through Friday, April 24, 2026 with ferry service set to resume Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The closure is tied to maintenance on the island’s ferry landing and dock pilings, which undergo regular inspections due to heavy use from more than a million annual visitors. Officials described the work as planned upkeep and say previously purchased tickets are being refunded or rescheduled.
There’s also a heads-up for later this year: additional dock improvements are expected that will require another temporary closure, though no dates have been announced yet. For now, visitors are being offered alternate Bay cruises while the island is closed.
