Ocean Beach Bonfire
Come enjoy Bonfire of Reflection, a meditative fall bonfire on the beach with free s’mores, plus singing, drumming, stories, and frolicking around the fire until 11 pm on September 7, 2013.
Timed right around Rosh Hashanah and the Celtic New Year, bring friends, stories, songs, drums and other musical instruments. Share stories of change and miracles; sing of seasons, remembering and change, and meditate on our place in the world.
Bonfire of Reflection
Saturday, September 7, 2013 – 6:30p to 11p
Ocean Beach across from Beach Chalet
FREE
You are invited to bring something to burn (ex-lovers letters, tax returns, business papers, legal papers, etc..) as a way of letting go of it. Or white something down on a 3×5 card and burn to symbolically set it free.
Please bring food and drinks for yourself and some to share, but they will provide chocolate, Kosher marshmallows, and Graham crackers for S’mores.
The bonfire is hosted by YeaShore, a Jewish organization, but all are welcome to this event. They’ll have a Jewish Havdalah ritual about an hour after sunset. The ritual lasts about ten minutes. As not all the guests at YeaShOre’s bonfires are Jewish, they explain it and invite everyone to join in (or at least be quiet).
