California Institute of Integral Studies Public Programs & Performances presents events for people who are curious about the world and themselves—engaging Bay Area communities through a diverse array of performing arts, lectures, conversations, and workshops.

This talk with fiction writer and essayist Carolyn Cooke will explore reading and writing as important activities of consciousness. Using examples from contemporary writing, we’ll look at how literature helps you develop empathy and insight, and gain experience in putting the unsayable—or even the unspeakable—into language.
