Although San Francisco may not be known specifically  for its French culture (Italian, Irish and Chinese, maybe…), don’t tell that the francophiles that pack the streets of downtown for block parties each Bastille Day. And for 2013, the city sports four french-themed block/alley parties (and one patio party) over the weekend.

Bastille Day is sort of like France’s equivalent July 4th – an historical day commemorating the storming the Bastille (a fortress prison) on July 14, 1789 that is seen as a symbol of the uprising of a modern nation during the French Revolution.

But let’s be honest, San Francisco… this is one part celebration of French culture and nine parts party in the streets!
