Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter, took to Twitter to announce that he’s donating $1 billion to fund global COVID-19 relief.
The founder of Twitter and Square said he was putting nearly a third of his total wealth toward the effort.
He’s formed a LLC to fund relief for all those in need due to the health crisis we’re facing. The LLC will have open transparaceny to see where the funds are going. His first donation is $100,000 for America’s Food Fund, which is committed to feeding the hungry.
As his final message on the thread, he tweeted “I hope this inspires others to do something similar. Life is too short, so let’s do everything we can today to help people now.”
Thank you @jack. This is exactly what we need right now!
I’m moving $1B of my Square equity (~28% of my wealth) to #startsmall LLC to fund global COVID-19 relief. After we disarm this pandemic, the focus will shift to girl’s health and education, and UBI. It will operate transparently, all flows tracked here: https://t.co/hVkUczDQmz

Why now? The needs are increasingly urgent, and I want to see the impact in my lifetime. I hope this inspires others to do something similar. Life is too short, so let’s do everything we can today to help people now. ✌?
