Omnivore Books on Food is a teeny Noe Valley bookstore, their shelves packed floor to ceiling with hundreds of new, antiquarian, and collectible titles, on all manner of food and cooking.
The store hosts frequent events including book signings, chef talks, author readings, cooking contests, and food and drink tastings.
Join Omnivore Books for one of their most famous food contests, a pie contest, on Saturday, August 3, 2013. It’s free for entrants, and $5 for those who will be taste testing only.
Make the best of this summer’s fruit by creating your prize-winning pie, crumble, buckle, cobbler, crisp, tart…you get the picture. Cut it into as many pieces as you can so the most people can sample it, come a little before 3 pm, and set it on a table in the shop.
If you’ll just be eating, pay $5 at the door, and judge as many pies as you can. Everyone will pick a favorite, and the one with the most votes will split the door money with Omnivore Books.
