Events at Omnivore Books On Food
Omnivore Books on Food is a teeny Noe Valley bookstore, their shelves packed floor to ceiling with hundreds of new, antiquarian, and collectible titles, on all manner of food and cooking.
The store hosts frequent events including book signings, chef talks, author readings, cooking contests, and food and drink tastings.
In her new cookbook, Mexican author Pati Jinich shares dishes both traditional new. Some are regional recipes she has recovered from the past and updated, like Miners’ Enchiladas with fresh vegetables and cheese or Drunken Rice with Chicken and Chorizo, a specialty of the Yucatán. “Sweaty” Tacos with ripe tomatoes and cheese are so convenient they’re sold on Mexican streets by bicyclists.
