Event Details

Having a library card is a no-brainer. Going to museums in a culture-rich city such as San Francisco is also good idea.

Lucky for you, all San Francisco Public Library card holders are invited to visit the Contemporary Jewish Museum for FREE today! You can even bring a guest with you (whatever sad sap doesn’t have a library card) free of charge.

Just show your SFPL card for free entry for you and a guest to all exhibitions and programs.  Don’t miss free drop-in art making from 1-3 PM and the Preschool Gallery Hour at 10 AM on this day as well and children’s storytelling!

CURRENT EXHIBITIONS INCLUDE:

  • RECLAIMED: Paintings from the collection of Jacques Goudstikker – Rarely-seen Old Master paintings reveal the legacy of a preeminent Jewish art dealer whose vast collection was looted by the Nazis. Discover a dramatic story of great art, injustice and reclamation.
  • AS IT IS WRITTEN: Project 304,805 This is centered around a soferet (a professionally trained female scribe) who while on public view will write out the entire text of the Torah over the course of a full year.
  • BLACK SABBATH: The Secret Musical History of Black-Jewish Relations – A musical journey through a unique slice of recording history–the Black-Jewish musical encounter from the 1930s to the 1960s.
  • StoryCorps StoryBooth – New York-based oral history project founded and directed by award-winning documentary artist and MacArthur Fellow Dave Isay.
