Event Details

Join Mayor Edwin M. Lee and the San Francisco Department of the Environment and Recology for a special green carpet screening of the award-winning documentary film Trashed on Thursday, April 11, 2013.

Help celebrate, watch and learn about the city’s achievements in waste reduction and how San Francisco is on track to become the first city in the United States to achieve Zero Waste.

In the groundbreaking environmental documentary, Trashed, Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons explores the world’s most environmentally polluted places to reveal the extent our rubbish is affecting us and our planet.

In search of solutions, Irons finds individuals who have changed their lives and produce almost no waste, governments that are increasing anti-waste legislation, and an entire city—San Francisco—that is now virtually waste-free.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

Schedule:

7-7:30 pm: Zero Waste Panel

  • Melanie Nutter, Director, San Francisco Department of the Environment (Moderator)
  • Robert Haley, Zero Waste Manager, San Francisco Department of the Environment
  • Annie Leonard, Renowned author, director, speaker and thought leader on sustainability and consumption
