Annual Petaluma Bell Ringing Ceremony | 2012
>> Want to see our Top Picks for this week instead?
Petaluma Historical Museum | 20 Fourth Street, Petaluma, CA
On the steps of the museum, a tradition started in 1963 in response to JFKs interest in starting a tradition of simultaneous bell ringing for the Fourth of July in communities all across the country.
And the Petaluma Historical Museum is keeping the tradition alive for 2012, by having local Boy Scouts raise the flag as people listen to a proclamation by the mayor. Everyone is also welcome to get in line and ring the bell. Refreshments, including homemade cookies, cupcakes and lemonade, to follow.
Event takes place at 10:30am on the steps on the museum. However, the museum will not be open that day, as they are currently in between exhibits.
