Event Details

City Lights hosts an Ash Wednesday book reading with with Annie La Ganga reading from “Stoners and Self-Appointed Saints”  and Bill Cotter reading from “Fever Chart”  and a special guest appearance by mega-author Dave Eggers who, according to the press release, will be acting as waiter tonight, serving homemade grilled cheese sandwiches (which actually figure into the plot of “Stoners…”) prepared by the authors.

Stoners and Self-Appointed Saints is a memoir told in a collage of monologues and poems about awkward grieving, bad judgment, and important stoners. Stoners and Self-Appointed Saints is the first book written by Annie La Ganga that she didn’t print and staple together herself.

Fever Chart followes the exploits of Jerome Coe. Having spent most of his life medicated, electroshocked, and institutionalized, finds himself on a road trip to New Orleans with a bandaged hand, world-champion grilled-cheese sandwiches, and only the occasional psychotic break.  Bill Cotter has worked as a debt collector, book restorer, toilet scrubber, and door-to-door vacuum-cleaner salesman. Fever Chart is his debut novel.
