Get ready to celebrate Sunnyvale’s 100th Birthday on Saturday & Sunday, August 25-26, 2012, at Sunnyvale’s Heritage Park from 11am – 5pm.
Although it had been operating under that name for many years, the city of Sunnyvale, California was legally incorporated in 1912. Now a century later, Sunnyvale is celebrating its centennial in style. All activities are free of charge.
Sunnyvale 100th Birthday Celebration Schedule
Saturday, August 25, 2012
- Parade: 10 am-12 pm
A grand parade will march down the streets of Sunnyvale to kick off the Centennial Celebration. It starts at 10:00am in front of Fremont High School, turns onto Remington Drive, and ends at the Community Center, approximately 1.5 miles from beginning to end.- Centennial Celebration: 12-5 pm
Sunday, August 26, 2012
- Historical Bicycle Tour: 8:30-11:30 am
- Mayor’s State of the City & Community Awards: 11 am -12:30 pm
- Centennial Celebration: 12:30-5 pm
In addition to a big Centennial parade and the annual State of the City address and community awards presentation, there will be a wide variety of special, family friendly activities to honor Sunnyvale’s first 100 years, including:

- model railroad diorama
- whiskers contest
- Murphy Party covered wagon
- history in art exhibits
- blacksmith demonstration
