Women’s Rights One Century Later | Saratoga

Saratoga History Museum is providing a lecture celebrating women’s rights on Tuesday, January 28 at 7:30 PM at the Saratoga Foothill Club.

Three speakers will provide a historical perspective on the struggle for women’s equality. The right to vote for women dates back to 1920 with the passing of the 19th amendment. Educator Sharon Bouska provides a historical overview of the suffrage movement; Microsoft Director Sera Fernando offers a look at the status of diversity in the workplace; and Attorney Protima Pandey provides an update on the Equal Rights Amendment adoption.

All three are part of the Women’s Equality 2020 Leadership Council in Santa Clara County. They will also provide an update on activities planned for 2020. The Women’s Equality 2020 Leadership Council is a forty-six member council formed by the Board of Supervisors (BOS) to assist in the County’s efforts to commemorate and honor the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage, ensure a complete census count, broaden electoral participation in 2020, and advance women’s equality.

The lecture takes place at the Saratoga Foothill Club located at 20399 Park Place in Saratoga. The lecture is free for all Saratoga Historical Foundation members and a donation of $5.00 is asked for nonmembers. For more information go up to www.saratogahistory.com or call 408-867-4311.
