SF’s Parks May Close Soon if People Continue to Act Stupid
San Francisco Mayor London Breed has stern warnings during a press conference Monday afternoon for the residents of SF warning that if people continued to flout social distancing guidelines, the city may have to close its public parks.

“Sadly, in some of our parks and along our beaches we have noticed there are a lot of people taking this opportunity to have picnics,” Mayor Breed said. “This is not what this is about. For public safety we need people to comply.”
Currently, San Francisco’s shelter-in-place order allows residents to go outside for “essential activities” only, which includes being able to go for a run, walk, hike or exercise. But the order specifically forbade crowds or gatherings. It appeared that many were ignoring the social distancing order completely.
“What I don’t want to do is close all parks…(but) if things continue the way we saw them happen over the weekend, we’ll have to close our parks system,” according to Breed.
Marin County closed all of its parks over the weekend, and San Francisco could be next.
