More Beach and Overlook Closures for SF & Marin

Marin and SF just closed 12 more beach parking lots and overlooks

Golden Gate National Recreation Area, in response to guidance from the Marin and San Francisco county health departments, is announcing additional modifications to operations to support federal, state, and local efforts to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
As of March 26, 2020, Golden Gate National Recreation Area will offer very limited services outside those that support visitor or resource protection.

New Closures as of March 26

The following additional parking sites will be closed until further notice in order to comply with local and state health authorities:
Marin County sites:
·       Muir Beach Overlook parking
·       Muir Beach parking
·       Rodeo Beach parking
·       Upper Conzelman Road (scenic overlook road from Golden Gate Bridge views to Point Bonita area)
San Francisco County sites:
·       Baker Beach parking
·       West Bluff parking
·       Long Avenue parking
·       Battery East parking
·       Langdon Court parking
·       Navy Memorial parking
·       Merrie Way parking
·       Sloat Boulevard parking at Ocean Beach

Other Sites Already Closed

Services and operations will continue to be suspended at the following areas until further notice:
Marin County sites:
·       Muir Woods National Monument
·       Marin Headlands Visitor Center
·       Nike Missile site; Point Bonita Lighthouse
·       Stinson Beach parking
·       Kirby Cove and Bicentennial campgrounds
San Francisco County sites:
·       Alcatraz Island
·       Presidio Visitor Center
·       Fort Point National Historic Site
·       Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center
·       Lands End Lookout
The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners at Golden Gate National Recreation Area   is our number one priority. The National Park Service (NPS) is working with federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. We will notify the public when we resume full operations and provide updates on our website   and social media channels.
All other outdoor spaces and trails at Golden Gate National Recreation Area not listed above remain accessible to the public in accordance with the latest federal, state, and local health guidance. Park rangers remain on duty protecting the parks and normal rules and regulations continue to apply. Staff continue to provide limited trash and restroom services.
If contemplating a visit to a national park during this pandemic, the NPS asks visitors to adhere to guidance from the  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  (CDC) and state and local public health authorities to protect visitors and employees. As services are limited, the NPS urges visitors to continue to practice  Leave No Trace principles , including pack-in and pack-out, to keep outdoor spaces safer and healthier.
The NPS encourages people to take advantage of the many digital tools already available to explore Golden Gate NRA. These include the park’s multimedia webpage, and those of our partners, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and the Presidio Trust.
