Event Details

Galeria de la Raza presents “Real N.D.N: Native Diaspora Now,” a provocative, multimedia exhibition featuring a diverse array of Bay Area Native American artists all answering and asking the question- ‘Who is today’s real n.d.n.?’

This exhibition includes filmmakers, painters, poets, photographers, performance and mixed-media artists offering a visual response to the challenging—and often controversial—questions: How do we represent community in our individualized practices and perspectives? How do percentages of Native blood divide and define us as individuals or as members of a community? What does it mean to have to prove you are your race through a number, certificate, skin color, or type of art that you make? What defines contemporary Native American art? Who are the judges?

The opening reception will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2012  at 7:30pm. The show runs until October 13, 2012.
