Yerba Buena Gardens Festival | 2012
The Yerba Buena Gardens Festival (YBGF) features over 90 free outdoor events from May to October on three stages including music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, family festivals and children’s programs with artists from all over the world Africa, Bali, Italy, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, the Philippines, Sweden, China and the Bay Area.

Litquake: Lines & Lyrics: Cave Canem Edition | Yerba Buena Gardens Festival | 2012Lines & Lyrics, curated by Litquake’s Robin Ekiss, will feature new and former fellows of Cave Canem, a fine arts organization founded to advance African-American poetry.
The poets featured at this reading will be Drea Brown, an Oakland native who has been published in numerous journals and anthologies, George Higgins, who has appeared in Best American Poetry 2003 and Nimrod, Chiyuma Elliot, a Visiting Scholar in English at UC Berkeley, and Myron Michael, winner of the 2012 Willow Brooks Chapbook Prize for his book Scatter Plot. This program will also feature live jazz improvisation from saxophonist Richard Howell.
