California Is Giving Away Free State Parks Pass Through July 6

Looking for an affordable family adventure? California is offering a special free edition of its Historian Passport, giving visitors free admission to more than 30 state historic parks through December 31, 2026.

The limited-time promotion celebrates Juneteenth and America’s 250th anniversary, and the pass is available to download for free through July 6, 2026.

Normally $50, the Historian Passport grants admission to participating California State Historic Parks and museums. The free version covers admission for up to four people per visit and can be used for unlimited visits through the end of the year.

Participating sites include Gold Rush landmarks, historic missions, former state capitol buildings, and cultural sites that tell the diverse stories of California’s past.

Several parks are easy Bay Area day trips, including:

  • Jack London State Historic Park (Glen Ellen)
  • Sonoma State Historic Park
  • Jack London State Historic Park
  • Benicia Capitol State Historic Park
  • Olompali State Historic Park (Novato)
  • Marconi Conference Center State Historic Park (Tomales Bay)
  • Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park (St. Helena)

To claim your free pass, create an account and download it through California’s reservation system before July 6. Once downloaded, you’ll have free access to participating sites through December 31, 2026.
