Did you that the East Bay played a big part in the silent film movie industry in the early 1900s? Niles (near Fremont) was home to the Essanay Film Studio where superstars like Charlie Chaplin made tons of silent classics.
Today, the studio is a museum and they host regular silent movie screenings with live music on most Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons for just $5.
