Event Details

Podcasts are for people who would rather listen than read, right? Not necessarily. Every writer should know the three powerful ways that podcasting can boost their literary life: as a listener, as a guest, and as a podcast creator. Award-winning podcast host (The Midlife Mixtape Podcast) and author (The Thank-You Project: Cultivating Happiness One Letter of Gratitude at a Time.) Nancy Davis Kho shares practical tips and insider wisdom for making the audio format support your writing career.

Nancy Davis Kho is a speaker and podcaster whose work has appeared in the Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, and NPR affiliate KQED. She is also author of THE THANK-YOU PROJECT: Cultivating Happiness One Letter of Gratitude at a Time (Running Press, 2019.) Nancy covers “the years between being hip and breaking one” at MidlifeMixtape.com and on the Midlife Mixtape Podcast, available on all major podcast platforms. The Midlife Mixtape Podcast won a 2020 Iris Award as Podcast of the Year and was included in Wall Street Journal’s list of 8 Podcasts for Anyone Nervously Facing Retirement. Nancy has been both champion and judge in the acclaimed international comedy-lit improv show, Literary Death Match.

The California Writers Club (CWC) formed in 1909 when world-famous author Jack London, poet George Sterling, short story writer Herman Whitaker, Oakland’s first librarian and California’s first poet laureate Ina Coolbrith, and others met for informal literary and artistic salons on lands that are today’s 500-acre Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland.

Today, the nonprofit CWC has a statewide membership of nearly 1,800 members and 22 branches. CWC member-volunteers serve aspiring writers, published writers, and supporters by providing writing conferences, contests, critique and support groups, workshops, and publishing opportunities.
