No fee for admission. $5.00 dollar lottery tickets are for the Muni Diaries Haiku Battle & Pun Off only.

Muni Diaries Haiku Battle and Pun-Off

Come join the Muni Diaries crew for an evening of epic public transit-theme word play! We’ll have our famous Muni Haiku Battle featuring local authors followed by a transit themed pun-off.
All are welcome to come spectate, and if you want to give some transit themed word play a go enter the lottery to be a pun-off competitor!

*** ALL PROCEEDS FROM TICKET SALES WILL GO TO THE PRISONERS LITERATURE PROJECT!***

There will be two ticket options (both the same price), as an observer or as a lottery draw to be a pun-off competitor.

NOTE: The lottery ticket does NOT GUARANTEE a competition spot! The competitors will be picked beforehand from a random number generator. But, if a competitor backs out or doesn’t show, we will go back to the lottery picks at random!

What is a Haiku-Battle? Teams of local authors will be selected beforehand to battle for best haiku! Winner takes all! (probably a fun trophy).

What is a pun-off? There are prepared punners and improv punners. The prepared punners will be given advance notice and have time to think of their pun story. The improv punners will be given a prompt and must tell a pun-filled story with the chosen theme.

About Independent Bookstore Day

Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) is a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April. Every store is unique and independent, and every party is different. But in addition to authors, live music, cupcakes, scavenger hunts, kids events, art tables, readings, barbecues, contests, and other fun stuff, there are exclusive books and literary items that you can only get on that day. Not before. Not after. Nowhere else.
