Thanks to KRON4 for sharing the news that Oakland City Council recently voted to cap rent hikes to 3%.  The law goes into effect on June 7, 2022.

This will be a big help for Oakland renters; approximately 60% of Oakland residents are tenants. This came as a swift change from last month when Oakland City Council had said rent-controlled properties could raise rent by 6.7%, which would have been the largest allowable increase in decades.
